DUTCH ALMOND PASTRY

This classic Dutch Pastry filled with almond paste is usually a holiday highlight, however, a tasty sweet treat is acceptable year round here at GoodLove! We use our GF All-Butter Puff Pastry and a box of almond paste filling ... and that's it! It is so easy to create this delectable, nutty pastry any day of the week.

What you'll need:

1 Pack GoodLove Puff Pastry

1 8oz box of Solo Gluten-Free Almond Paste

1 Egg (for egg wash)

1 Tbsp Sugar

Toasted Coconut or Sliced Almonds for decorating

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 425°
  2. First, prepare your defrosted puff pastry sheets by lightly rolling each sheet out with a little GF flour.
  3. Next, divide the almond paste into two equal portions then roll each portion into a log about the width of the puff pastry sheets.
  4. To roll up, place the almond paste log at the bottom of your puff pastry sheet and gently roll up. Brush a little egg wash on the very top portion of the puff to create a seal. Then place your puff pastry almond paste log on a parchment lined pan with the seal on the bottom. Follow these steps for the second puff pastry sheet.
  5. Before placing in your oven, brush on a little more egg wash on the tops of the pastry, and then score the tops with a knife. You can make fun designs here if you want. We went with a simple horizontal lines.
  6. Sprinkle the tops with a tiny bit of sugar then bake fore 20 minutes until puffed and golden. Your kitchen will smell like toasted almonds!
  7. Once cooled, you can decorate the pastries with toasted coconut or sliced almonds.
  8. Enjoy :)
